The methodology activity addresses all issues regarding the test and validation of the common European architecture. The work does not solely cover the methodological basis to test and validate the prototype, but also covers all relevant aspects for testing and validation of the system in a future European field operational test. This activity depends on comprehensive inputs of the “Simulation” work package in order to estimate a field operational test’s basic parameters (e.g. number of required vehicles or density of road side units).

To make sure that the tests and methodologies are valid, easy to apply, and provide the expected results, they will be validated in the activity of “Demonstration and impact assessment”, where they are applied to the PRE-DRIVE C2X system prototype. This activity provides an essential contribution to a consequent preparation of a future comprehensive field operational test. Results of other relevant projects such as EUROFOT, FESTA and TELEFOT are monitored and considered as well as the results of FP6 projects dealing with system evaluation and assessment such as eIMPACT and the PReVENT subproject PReVAL.
